Deliciosa is world famous in Hawke’s Bay, which is testament to the great quality product, service and commitment to evolution that Sarah and her team have created over the almost 13 years the doors have been open.
Staying true to its roots, Deliciosa retains the same food philosophy since its inception of packing big punchy flavours into shared plates – a style unheard of in HB during 2007 and unmatched in 2020.
Initially opening as a little “South of Spain” experience, Sarah has grown the restaurant to be a strong hold for where worldly concepts are infused with regional brilliance. The menu is described by Head Chef Nickolas Anderson (from Caravan in London fame) as “a love child of seasonal opportunity and favourites that regulars refuse to allow to leave” – it is this approach that continues to win over its guests in what can be a very fickle hospitality industry.
Developing a strong and very loyal following of regulars is what truly showcases why Deliciosa has remained at the front of the pack for over a decade – there in part because the food is mouth wateringly delicious and the beverage list is the ultimate highlight reel of NZ and international beer & wines – but actually mostly down to Sarah’s unrelenting approach to great service. It is not unusual to be welcomed by name, and served your favourite tipple – without uttering a word. This commitment to creating a warm and welcoming environment is at the heart of its continued success.
Having expanded its footprint to now host 100 people, the restaurant now caters to any whim – fancy a lazy afternoon rose basking in the sun on a beanbag? Sure! Are you after a celebratory dinner for 12? No worries! A cozy espresso martini nightcap snuggled into huge leather couches? Come on in!
The team at Deliciosa are very proud of what they do, and it shows. If you are in to all day grazing in style, look no further.
